Paging Systems
The Benefits Of On-Site Paging Systems
On-site paging systems may at first appear to be an unnecessary and inefficient use of a business or facilities budget. However, upon further reflection, the savvy administrator can see that on-site paging systems have numerous uses and advantages.
One of the advantages of an on-site paging system is control of a business’s communications. Large facilities need to be able to communicate with and access their employees at any time. Due to the nature of some facilities, cell-phone networks may not penetrate to all areas. There can be “dead” locations where staff cannot receive calls. Installing an on-site paging system and the appropriate transmitters can target all areas of a facility and eliminate the “I didn’t get the call” excuse from staff. Additionally, as the business is the owner of the pagers, it is easier to make sure every pager is operational at all times. Losing a pager can be handled much easier than an employee losing their personal phone.
In addition to control and ease of access, on-site paging systems can be used in places where noise can be an issue, such as hospitals, churches, libraries, or restaurants. Instead of paging staff or patients through the intercom or broadcasting emergencies so every one can hear, hospitals can contact the people they need to quietly and quickly. Nurseries in churches or at daycare facilities can let the parents or staff know when an issue arises silently and easily. As for restaurants, handing out on-site pagers in various shapes and sizes allows patrons to sit at their seat and wait for their order as opposed to clogging the front counter and entrance way, or to let someone know when their table is ready.
There are a wide range of pagers available and which kind an establishment will choose depends on their needs. Restaurants can opt for larger pagers that simply vibrate and light up, while hospitals will most likely turn towards a similar model that has an LED display for detailed messages. Churches and nurseries can choose a smaller, more discreet version that lights up and vibrates, while many businesses can opt for a standard model that is easy to carry, looks like the regular pagers that most people are familiar with, and has a LED readout that allows large messages to be read.
There are many reasons why a business, facility or establishment would utilize an on-site paging system. Checking out what is available takes little time and might open up a business or location to increased profit and improved customer service.
